Who I am
I’m a canine behaviour specialist with over 10 years’ experience working hands-on with rescue dogs, supporting them through rehabilitation and helping them successfully transition into home environments.
My experience has been built in real-world rescue settings, where I’ve worked with a wide range of behavioural challenges, particularly fearful, anxious, and reactivity cases.
I began my career at a small independent rescue, before spending five years with Blue Cross. During my time there, I worked as an Animal Welfare Assistant before progressing into a Rehabilitation Trainer and Behavioural Advisor role. In this position, I supported dogs with behavioural difficulties and worked under the guidance of CCAB-accredited behaviourists.
I now work at Battersea as a Canine Behaviourist and Training Advisor, where I support both dogs and owners through behavioural challenges. This includes conducting phone consultations and in-home visits, helping owners better understand their dogs and implement practical, effective behaviour plans in real-life environments.
Alongside my professional roles, I’ve spent time working with and visiting a variety of rescue organisations across the UK and internationally, including centres in York, Sheffield, Manchester, Greece, and Cape Verde. These experiences have broadened my perspective and deepened my understanding of how environment, handling, and lifestyle impact behaviour.
While I hold a BSc (Hons) in Animal Management, the foundation of my knowledge comes from years of hands-on experience, mentorship, and continued independent study. I place a strong emphasis on practical, evidence-based approaches that prioritise the welfare and emotional wellbeing of the dog.
My work is centred around helping owners build better relationships with their dogs, with a particular focus on fear, anxiety, and other behavioural challenges that can feel overwhelming without the right support.
Outside of my work, I enjoy running, strength training, playing piano, reading, and meditation — all of which help me stay balanced and focused in what can be an emotionally demanding field.
My Approach
My work is grounded in a welfare-first approach, focusing on the emotional experience of the dog as the foundation for behaviour change.
I use reward-based methods to help dogs feel safer and more secure, rather than relying on punishment or suppression. Many behavioural challenges stem from underlying fear, anxiety, or confusion, and lasting progress comes from addressing those root causes, not just the outward behaviour.
I take into account each dog’s individual needs, environment, and history, and work with owners to build practical, realistic strategies that support both the dog and the household.
My aim is not just to change behaviour, but to improve understanding, strengthen the relationship between dog and owner, and create long-term, sustainable change.
